Gig of the week

Friday 9th February

Dr Syntax & Pete Cannon plus DJ Fingerfood , Stay Hungry- Bocabar/Red Brick

Dr Syntax (MC) and Pete Cannon (producer/DJ/MC) have been making music and touring together since 2010. They are well renowned for smashing shows all over the UK, and at festivals such as Boomtown Fair (UK) and Outlook (Croatia). Both reputed solo artists in their own right, their collaborative releases ‘Killer Combo’, 'Elaborate Anoraks' and 'The Tonic' combine witty, insightful lyricism and gob-smackingly banging beats to great effect. While their sound is rooted in hip hop for the most part, their riotous live performances showcase their versatility with ventures into bass music, old skool hardcore and jungle.

Dr Syntax and Pete Cannon will be supported by a number of young, talented, DJs and MCs. These include DJ Mlyz (Heducation), the hip hop artists Stay Hungry, MC's Glacia and Sean Peng, and DJ Fingerfood (Squared Roots).

Pilton Party Auditions- Pilton Working Mans Club
Some Villains are a four-piece alternative rock group. The band's music is a cacophony of hard drums, angular riffs, unusual rhythms and interesting chord inversions; all attempting to straddle the line between the experimental and the accessible.
Subject matter ranges from themes of love, life and loss to false gods, society, and maniacal circus ringleaders. To this point the band has achieved success, including an appearance on BBC Radio 6 Music, their own headline shows at London's The Lexington, as well as at Bristol's legendary venue, The Fleece.

Recovering Satellites are a UK Country Rock band from the heart of England’s West Country, Somerset.

Sunday 11th February

Valis Ablaze, Pretty Little Enemy, Lady Janes Revenge & Mooneater- Cobblestones- Bridgwater
Valis Ablaze Establishing their reputation for chunky, modern riffing combined with emotive atmospherics, Valis Ablaze have flirted around the edges of the thriving UK tech/prog scene since early 2014.
The band have played over 100 shows, sharing the stage with almost all of their more current influences and peers.  The band have worked with renowned film maker Ben Herbert (New Era, Arnold Schwarzenegger) and music video mastermind, Scott Canty. In January 2017, the band released ‘Insularity’ – a much sleeker, shinier, song-focused proposition produced by Metal Hammer Golden God Winner, Drewsif Stalin.
With 140,000 Spotify Streams in under a year, and 40,000 YouTube plays in the last 18 months, the band feel they are definitely on to something with their unique blend of heavy, melody and technicality. Following the positive reception of Insularity, the band continued to support larger bands within the genre, cementing themselves as the heavier alternative to your favourite clean vocalled, modern, prog metal bands.
Valis Ablaze have played shows or toured with Tesseract, Monuments, The Contortionist, Uneven Structure, Dead Letter Circus, Vola, Disperse and more (not including festivals), just since their new direction made public in June 2016

.
Pretty Little Enemy Since their formation in early 2015, Pretty Little Enemy have built up a dedicated following in the South West which is quickly spreading across the rest of the UK and beyond.
The self proclaimed “Metal ABBA” have earned a reputation for putting on a great show, and this has led to support slots with the likes of Crazy Town, Hed P.E, Dave McPherson, The Lounge Kittens, Courage My Love, Halflives, Devilskin, Trapt, The Fallen State, Empire and The Gospel Youth amongst others!

Lady Janes Revenge The group have picked up various online press (Hit the floor, Alt-corner,Vents Magazine, Breathing the Core, Creation Press, Mosh and being featured in Punk Archive's 2015 year in review of bands - http://www.thepunkarchive.com/2015-year-in-review/ , plus print in the last ever edition of Big Cheese Magazine & much more..) as well as nationwide online radio play alongside 3 Singles being chosen by their regional BBC Introducing in Cornwall.
The band have played shows throughout the UK, taking the stage at various venues such as Highbury Garage (London)/Bristol Beirkeller/Underground & The Junction (Plymouth)/ Fuel (Cardiff)/The Robin2 (Wolverhampton)/Mono (Falmouth)/ The Cobblestones (Bridgwater) among many others..
while playing shows and tours with the likes of Tim 'Ripper' Owens (ex Judas Priest)/Crazy Town/Rory Indiana/Veridian/Catch Fire/More than Most/ Seconds Alive/Kernuyck/Three Times Over/Hypophora/Pretty Little Enemy etc...

The energetic alternative rockers re-released their debut EP ‘1554’ on Friday 26th February 2016 through all stores. With [Self-Titled] follow up recorded and mixed @ Outhouse Studios (Enter Shikari, You me at Six, Architects, Lower than Atlantis...) by John Mitchell & Simon Jackman, released on 27th October 2017.
