Ian M Perry- Glastonbury Grow Room- The King Arthur
When Ian M Perry was growing up, nothing was as it is today - old men were young, trees were saplings and the world was sprightly. Today - as his dark but wise eyes scan civilisation - he sees much which displeases his sensitive and refined palate. As a result, tears of deep and wild passion flow as he greets every new day and his brooding, romantic heart explodes with love. The universe is barely enough to hold such emotion, let alone one man - but Ian is such a man, such a man as none have known - except those who have. Women swoon at his first intake of breath, and as his rich, resonant baritone wafts over their limp bodies they dream of scones and milk and rice pudding. For he is such a man, such a great and noble beast of a man, that the very mention of his name sends shivers down the backs of tigers, and lions; and yet the sensitivity with which he strums and thrums his guitar belies a soul as humble and gentle as a barnyard cockerel - we can almost imagine the piece of straw hanging from his lips as he sings another mournful tune celebrating the diversity of life. It is these insights into the true soul of the man that - for so many of us - point the way to a greater understanding of life, the possibility of peace in our lifetime and and an end to human suffering. In these moments it is the sheer generosity of spirit that overwhelms us, and which unites us. It is in those intimate moments when we feel his lyrical hand rest for a second on our thigh that many of us forget both our troubles and sexual orientation. It is then we are willingly led into the boudoir of enlightenment, the exotic tent of rejoicing, the slightly confusing swamp of exhilaration.

Friday 26th January

Manfred Mann`s Earth Band- Cheese and Grain-  Frome
A real coup for the venue in securing the only non-festival UK show by the legendary prog rockers in over three years! The show at the Cheese & Grain will be the only Theatre or Club show in 2018 !!

Manfred Mann a legendary figure in British Music History, emigrating from South Africa in the early 60's , leading and lending his name to the pop combo that topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic.

Always wanting to expand his musical tentacles, he formed the fusion inspired Manfred Mann Chapter Three before forming The Earth Band in 1971. The name being inspired by former bandmate and Beatles associate Klaus Voormann.

As well as Manfred's compositions, the band had huge hits with several Bruce Springsteen numbers including "Blinded by the Light " which topped the charts in The USA and Canada, "Spirit in the Night", and "For You".

Expect these and other classic hits by the band including "Joybringer", "Davy's on the Road Again", "It's all Over Now" "Baby Blue", "Get Your Rocks Off", "Don't kill it Carol","California", "You Angel You", "Chicago Institute", "Father of Day", and "Mighty Quinn".

Keyboard virtuoso Manfred Mann still has founding member Mick Rogers with him on guitar and vocals as well as his longtime all star band of Robert Hart on vocals (Kenney Jones & Snakecharmer), John Lingwood on drums, (Regularly with Roger Chapman & Family), and Steve Kitch on bass (ex Jim Capaldi & Hazel O'Connor).

Everyone has heard of Manfred Mann's Earth band, everyone knows the songs, but how many people have ever seen them?? Still hugely popular they mainly play festivals in Europe and North America, so this is an incredibly rare opportunity to catch a band of this stature in an intimate venue.

Saturday 27th January

True Strays, Imprints, Back Wood Redeemers, Little Folk & more- Mothers Ruin- Bristol
The True Strays. Rhythm and blues fuelled, good time vintage roots rock and roll.
Taking influences from Chess Records’ Muddy Waters and Little Walter, British Invasion R&B, Grunge and modern day blues artists; all levelled out with a serious dedication to writing a great song.
Having spent four years touring with Sam Green and the Midnight Heist and having founded their own Smokin’ Juke Joint venue at Fieldview Festival, the boys are no strangers to bringing a room full of people into a Friday night frenzy.

Imprints are a folk, shanty, rock band that were founded in 2011 in Falmouth, UK. Now based in Bristol, the band are made up of founding members Andy Truckle (lead vocals & guitar) and Vince Martin (violin & vocals). Currently gigging as a duo and as a five piece with, Annie Wright (Vocals), Tom Cornwall (drums & vocals) and Tom Bangham (bass). Imprints provide a high-octane, frantic yet focused spin on the current folk-rock genre.

The Back Wood Redeemers Hailing from deepest Somerset, BWR are pledged to bring forth songs of dark country, twisted blues & religious fervor.

They will follow up this release with a new single early in the new year and a second EP by the summer of 2017.

The Slimline Shufflers play a New Orleans style of rhythm'n'blues pioneered by such luminaries as Professor Longhair, James Booker & Dr. John

Eric Arthur, Bristol's finest exponent of this piano style, provides a virtuosic base and is joined by Henry Slim bringing horn-like amplified harmonica & baritone vocals to the mix. They are complimented by drummer Jai Widdowson-Jones, whose mastery of the sticks makes dancing hard to resist!
